Dark purple almost opaque in color which is very common with the Syrah from Francisca’s vineyard. On the nose, black fruit with earthy tones. Big, full-bodied flavors of blackberry and blueberry with medium to high tannins that are balanced with bright acidity and notes of black pepper.

Planted in 2001, Francisca’s Vineyard Syrah block is only 4.3 acres. The eastern most part of the block is much rarer which is mostly sand. This sub-area of the vineyard produces the clusters we reserve for the Princess Syrah. When we first smell this wine, we smell the joy of life in the vineyard! Resilience, love, hard work and passion!
