Tasting notes
Opaque purple in color with dark berries, earthy notes, and wet stone on the nose. Flavors of black cherry, blackberry, black pepper, red plum, segue into notes of vanilla and a silky, chocolatey, dark berry finish. Integrated, medium bodied tannins with a hint of toasted oak and balanced acidity.
Production notes
Grown in the highest elevation of our vineyard our Malbec benefits from the diurnal shift resulting in ripe fruit and balanced acidity. Only five barrels were made of this Malbec passion project wine. Grapes were lightly crushed into one-ton open fermenters. The cap was punched by hand twice per day for 14 days. After the fermentation was complete, the "free run wine" was drained off of the skins and pumped into barrel.
Aging: 21 Months in 40% New French Oak and 60% in neutral oak
Alcohol: 14.8%
Cases Produced: 118

“This 100% Malbec displays a semi opaque purplish-ruby color and rich aromas of blackberries, blueberries, cherries, brambly currants, black roses, mulberry, pipe tobacco, anise, violets, cracked pepper and incense. The flavors are bold and mouth encompassing, with black and blue fruits that are intermixed with licorice, dark chocolate, French roast and loamy earth. The saturation continues on the back with macerated berries, roasted walnuts, mocha, kirsch, moderate oak (40% new French) and graphite, followed by a slightly grainy ripe tannin finish."
