2011 Moonspell Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley
This wine is one of our finest Cabernets that we have made to date. Selective vineyards and winemaking practices were utilized to create a powerful yet balanced Cabernet Sauvignon that demonstrates the advantages that WA State has in the world of winemaking- longer growing days, deficit irrigation and minerally rich soils from the Missoula Floods thousands of years ago. This Cabernet Sauvignon is one that you will want to enjoy for many years to come as it develops in the bottle and with aging. Cheers!

...MOONSPELL, A luring name and a luring wine.
Seductive aromatics of cherry and blackberry combine with cocoa on the nose. The palate offers intensity and weight showcasing cassis, blackberry and currant layered with spice, plum and mixed berries. The texture is firm and opulent but refrains from overwhelming the fruit. The long-lasting finish is ribbons of anise and bitter-sweet chocolate intertwined with blue and blackberry flavors.
Individual lots of hand-picked grapes cropped at low tonnage from our finest vineyards comprise this Cabernet and we are generous with oak barrel aging. All of the specially selected lots for this wine had more than 3 weeks of maceration time followed by malolactic conversion entirely in barrel. We are very pleased with the lastest release of Moonspell and we plan on enjoying it with several meals and friends through 2023.

Our favorite foods with this wine are: Grilled meats such as ribeye steaks and NY steaks, proscuitto and Humbolt Fog cheese on a baguette and any savory or spicy dish.

The vineyards for this Cab were carefully selected for their attributes and characteristics that increase complexity and flavor. Planted in 2000, Stone Tree is the best growing site on the Wahluke slope and is the backbone of the flavor profile and structure. The Walla Walla vineyards add elegance and balance. The Benches vineyard is Bio Dynamic, has the Columbia River just behind it and offers brightness and acidity. Terra Blanca located in Red Mtn delivers robust tannins and big fruit. Planted in 2009 Candy Mtn which is adjacent to Red Mtn offers deeply rich fruit flavors and a velvety finish.
Dave Harvey joins Bergevin Lane with over 23 years of winemaking experience in Washington State working for notable wineries such as Townshend Cellars, Gordon Brothers and Terra Blanca.
